Hornberg takes home gold for Duravit

Bathroom furniture and bathroom manufacturer Duravit has seen the environmental ranking of its Hornberg factory leap in just a year.

The south-west German plant has been awarded the EcoVadis gold status, a year after it achieved silver.

The site manufactures bathroom furniture and bathrooms, and has defined climate goals by 2030 to reduce carbon emissions across all scopes. Performance in the sustainable procurement and labour and human rights categories improved.

‘The leap from silver to gold in the EcoVadis assessment shows clearly that sustainability is an integral component of our actions and shapes our decisions. The award confirms that we’re not simply treading water and defining targets,

but we’re forging ahead to implement them,’ says Stephan Tahy, Duravit ceo.

‘The gold medal isn’t an end point, but another step on the journey of continual improvement [EcoVadis has a platinum standard]. The aim is to significantly reduce the carbon emissions across all scopes by 2030. With this in mind, we’re currently analysing our entire supply chain and working with our partners to develop measures to reduce the emissions in scope 3 in particular – the indirect emissions that arise along the entire value creation chain,’ says Marcus Staudt, Duravi HSE manager.

Duravat also produces bathroom furniture at its Schenkenzell plant, also in the Black Forest.
