Ikea cuts sick pay for self-isolating unvaccinated staff

Ikea has cut sick pay for unvaccinated staff who have to self-isolate.

Unvaccinated workers at the chain have been only eligible for statutory sick pay of £96.35 a week during 10 days of isolation, rather than their normal salary, since September The Sunday Mail reported.

However, the chain says it will consider mitigating circumstances for staff forced to self-isolate if they are deemed a close contact of someone who has tested positive forCovid-19.

‘We appreciate that this is an emotive topic and all circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, anyone in doubt or concerned about their situation is encouraged to speak to their manager,’ says an Ikea spokesman.
