Ikea takes to the beach ahead of south coast launch

Ikea again turned to seagulls to highlight the opening of its Brighton store at the weekend.

Having debuted an advertisement featuring two seagulls discussing the merits of chips versus meatballs, the chain opened a ‘chip theft insurance kiosk’ on Brighton seafront, giving chips to passersby.

The ‘seagull-proof’ kiosk is intended to provide recompense for meals stolen by the birds over the decades.

The chain’s Churchill Square store opens on 14 August.
