Furniture, flooring and furnishings experienced significantly different pricing outcomes last month.
Household furniture saw the highest deflation rate in over a year – almost doubling to 1.3%, according to ONS data.
In contrast, carpet and flooring saw inflation double from 1% to 2%.
Deflation for furnishings doubled to 0.2%.
Garden furniture continued to see deflation accelerate, reaching 9.7%, according to ONS data. In contrast, lighting saw deflation drop from 3.4% to 0.1%.
Carpets and rugs and smooths continued to diverge on price changes, with carpet and rugs inflation rising from 1.4% to 2.4%, while smooths saw deflation drop to 1.3%: its lowest rate in almost a year.
Furnishing fabrics and curtains saw inflation fall from 0.8% to 0.7%; bed line saw deflation climb from 0.8% to 1.2% and table and bathroom linen saw inflation double to 0.8%.
