While John Lewis’ plans to move into house building have yet to bear fruit, its home stylists department has secured a new contract.
Developer Scarborough Group International has turned to the chain to design the interiors of the show home for the third phase of its Middlewood Locks development between Salford and Manchester City Centre.
The third phase will see 189 home built, adding to the existing 1,117 flats, with John Lewis offering a free design service and hosting design events.
‘We are thrilled to be working with SGI to create a warm and engaging design for the latest phase of the Middlewood Locks neighbourhood. To mirror the tranquil surroundings of the show home, we have combined a vibrant, playful palette with some fabulous statement products to create the perfect contemporary retreat within the city. We hope that the design inspires residents to create a unique space that reflects their personality and feels joyful to live within,’ says Sophie Holt, John Lewis Cheadle home design stylist.
‘We are so excited with this collaboration with John Lewis, a brand synonymous with staying ahead of the curve with stylish home interiors of exceptional and affordable quality. The home is a personal sanctuary that reflects individual taste, however we find that many of our customers like to feel inspired by our show apartment and like to know where they can source furnishings that will work well within the layout of their chosen home,’ says Nicola Wallis, SGI sales and marketing director.
Located on a 25-acre brownfield site, Middlewood Locks is a £1bn development situated around the three large basins of the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal. It is a joint venture by SGI, Singapore property firm Metro Holdings and Chinese group Hualing Group.
Future plans include the development of the remaining 10-acre plot that connects to Manchester city centre through the arches with outline planning consent already in place to deliver more new homes alongside offices, hotel and public spaces.
