Furniture and flooring retailer Lukehurst has been hailed as Kent’s family business of the year.
The two-store company won the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2023 Family Business of the Year category.
This was open to any family business, irrespective of sector and size, that is owned and operated by two or more members of a single family.
‘We are so pleased to have won this prestigious award, which is testament to the ethos of Lukehurst, which was originally started by my grandfather, Gerald Lukehurst, in 1970. My father, Martin, later joined the business and eventually took over, with myself joining the company in 2014 and now working as joint managing director with dad. Throughout this time, the hard work and good core values which Gerald instilled have been carried on by the family and the entire team,’ says Kathryn Lukehurst.
‘It was a fantastic evening, which myself and nine colleagues thoroughly enjoyed. I would also like to thank all our fantastic team and our wonderful customers – we wouldn’t be where we are today without you.’
