Milan Design Week: Soak up the light

Lasvit united its four introductions under the Soaked In Light banner at Euroluce.

Patrick Jouin’s Vera (pictured) distils the essence of the forest – its shifting light and layered textures – into asculptural glass pendant, blending two distinct types of handmade glass: delicate hand-made borosilicate glass and fused glass imprinted with the intricate grain of tree bark.

Vera was inspired by a moment of curiosity in Lasvit’s Novy Bor glassworks, where Jouin noticed the deep connection between wood and glassmaking. Experimenting with molten glass flowing freely over a tree trunk, he captured the intricate details of wood’s texture, creating a unique interplay of depth and light.

Maxim Velčovský, Lasvit art director’s Loomo collection is inspired by textile craftsmanship which translates the delicate texture of fabric into sculptural lighting, where glass and light intertwine to create an ambient glow.

Though smooth to the touch, its surface carries the visual depth of a structured weave, capturing the essence of fabric in glass.

Splash, is a glass lighting installation by Lasvit designer Martin Gallo that explores the emotional resonance of water and its fluid, ever-changing forms.
