Naturalmat has teamed up with the Cotton Lives On recycling programme to make mattresses out of recycled materials to give to charity to help alleviate bed poverty in the UK.
Naturalmat will manufacturer three roll mats from recycled cotton, which will be given to charities such as Shelter, Single Homeless Project and Re-fuweegee.
‘Our dream would be for everybody to sleep naturally on healthy, sustainable materials but we understand that comes at a price. This is why by 2025 we aim to be dedicating 5% of our production to making mattresses and items specifically aimed at people and families in need. By working with the Cotton Lives On programme, we are well on our way to achieving this goal,’ says Mark Tremlett, Naturalmat founder.
‘It’s brilliant to be part of a sustainable initiative like this that helps the planet and people experiencing homelessness at the same time. Knowing you have a safe and comfortable bed to sleep in at night means one less thing to worry about and you can focus on what’s important to you in living a more independent and fulfilling life. Every year we help more than 10,000 Londoners to leave homelessness behind and these roll mats will certainly help us in this,’ says Vicky Ames, Single Homeless Project head of communications.
