Next is to add to its roster of interiors brands after a multi-million pound deal with Clarke & Clarke.
The chain has agreed to pay £2.6m upfront to license the brand from owner Sanderson Design Group including bedding, towelling, tableware, furniture and lighting.
The range will be launched in 2024, with the deal lasting five years and covering the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The agreement is SDG’s fourth for Clarke & Clarke: it has deals with Asiatic Rugs, Wedgwood and Emma Shipley. It has existing licensing agreements with the retailer, including Morris & Co womenswear.
‘We are delighted to sign this master licensing agreement with Next for Clarke & Clarke, marking a significant strategic development for the brand. Clarke & Clarke is already the company’s largest brand by revenue and this agreement brings further multi-year income potential along with the endorsement of a major UK retailer. We look forward to working closely with Next during the year ahead on the broad and exciting range of homeware products covered by the agreement,’ says Lisa Montague, SDG ceo.
‘We are delighted to have this opportunity to deepen and strengthen our working relationship with the Sanderson Design Group. We anticipate the combination of timeless Clarke & Clarke design with Next’s dourcing, online and retail capabilities will deliver exciting new products to customers in the UK and beyond,’ says Lord Wolfson, Next ceo.
