Plumb secures deal for streamlined Plumbs

Re-upholstery, sofa covers and curtains manufacturer Plumbs has seen a transfer of ownership.

Sarah Plumb, Plumbs md has bought the company in a pre-pack deal which it says will ‘streamline’ ownership of the family-owned company. All but two of the firm’s 241 employees have been taken on by the new company.

‘This family restructure and investment will streamline the company ownership to those actively involved in its day-to-day operation and development. It offers the Plumbs brand an opportunity to continue as the only national provider of made-to-measure sofa covers, and reupholstery, in addition to offering bespoke curtains, whilst retaining their UK-wide team and supporting traditional craft skills within British manufacturing,’ says a statement.

Existing consumer orders remain valid.

‘We remain family owned and the Plumb family will still be actively involved in the day-to-day management of the business. The market stall roots of Plumbs also remain, with a commitment to a warm, friendly service, quality British manufacturing, and a talented team who uniquely craft each order. Our skilled team remain at the heart of our business, and we’re incredibly proud to continue to represent bespoke British manufacturing and traditional craft skills,’ says Plumb.

The company had sales of £25m in 2022, its most recently available accounts, but had a loss of almost £500,000.
