Mattress protection company Protect-A-Bed has stopped trading in the UK market.
The company’s UK head office closed earlier this month.
Private equity company Centre Lane Partners acquired the brand in 2019 after owner Holland Sleep Products applied for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US.
The latest accounts for Protect A Bed Europe – for 2022 – show that it had £1.09m in cash and generated a profit of £22,979.
However, it owed parent Hollander £1.87m, which the US company had agreed to call in until Protect A Bed was in a position to pay them.
The accounts also show that Holland acquired Protect A Bed Europe’s shares in March 2022.
