Retail footfall falls back

After its Jubilee boost, non-food retail footfall fell back last week.

Footfall was down 15.2% in 6-12 June, compared with 2019. This compared with a fall of 5.9% the previous week, according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index.

Retail parks were again the best performing retail venue, with footfall 10.5% lower than 2019. This compared with a 14.4% drop for high streets and a 21% decline for shopping centres.

Wales and south-west England was the best performing region with footfall down 12.1%. In contrast Scotland and Northern Ireland suffered a 215 drop.
