Retail parks outperform shopping centres and high streets

Retail footfall continued to reflect the changes in shopping and work patterns in the past week.

Non-food footfall was 18.8% lower compared with the corresponding week in 2019, according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index for the week ended 13 March.

Retail parks were the best performing venue, with footfall down 13.4%. Shopping centres saw footfall down 21.7% and high streets by 21.2%.

Footfall in cities was 23.5% lower and down 17.6% in towns.

Northern England was again the best performing region, with footfall down 16.3%.
