Showroom move for Fittingly

Bespoke fitted furniture retailer Fittingly has opened its first showroom.

The move will allow it to increase manufacturing capacity with designers and office staff relocating to the Stock-on-Trent showroom.

The etailer’s customers can design the furniture they want online, with a Fittingly designer completing the design, and it is supplied flatpack or can be fitted for the shopper.

The company has doubled its workforce to 30 in the past year.

‘We were looking for a larger premises in the city but we struggled to find something which was the right size. So we decided that the next best thing would be to open an additional site, which is just a short distance away from our 7,000sqft factory, for our office staff and a new showroom which meant we could expand our existing manufacturing space,’ says Alex Johnson, who co-founded the company in 2018.

‘We are an online only business, but we often have people asking if they can see our products before buying them. In some cases we have even had customers travelling from as far as Scotland to come and see what was essentially just a factory. So the showroom will give customers a place to come and view our products, and make it worthwhile for them. We can even guide them through the design process and show them how our technology works.

‘In the past 12 months we have doubled in size and we believe that is down to two things. Firstly, Covid has meant more people are having to work from home now so we’ve seen a rise in demand for office furniture and secondly, we have built up a very good reputation,’ says Marty Day, co-founder.

‘We’ve created a no pressure business model. We don’t employ sales staff, we employ designers because we believe our products speak for themselves. In two-and-a-half years we have become a multi-million pound business, and that is something we are really proud of,’ says Steve Mrozek, co-founder.
