Sofas & Stuff sets one million bottle goal

Upholstery chain Sofas & Stuff has set itself the target of using the equivalent of one million recycled plastic bottles in its products this year.

The company has cooperated with plastic collection company Plastic Bank and fibre manufacturer Advansa to offer shoppers the choice of Quallofil Blue Eco fibres as fillings.

It says 5,000 Quallofil Blue Eco filled cushions will use the plastic from one million plastic bottles.

It has also partnered with waste recycling company Clearabee offering same day furniture collection, with 95% of customers’ old furniture waste recycled or upcycled.

‘We are just at the very beginning of our journey to become more eco-friendly. We know that more needs to be done to help protect our oceans and coastal communities, and we are excited to be working with Plastic Bank and Advansa to make our bespoke, British made furniture collections more sustainable. Our plan is to help remove one million plastic bottles from the ocean by the end of 2021. We want to encourage all UK furniture manufacturers to join us in taking the first step towards greater sustainability,’ says Andrew Cussins, Sofas & Stuff ceo.
