Sturton & Tappers’ end draws near

199 years of interiors retailing is drawing to a close as Bournemouth independent furniture and flooring retailer Sturton & Tappers nears the end of its closing down sale.

Owners David and Pauline Scott, both 78, are retiring.

The company which had stores in Wimborne, which closed in 2021, and Salisbury, which closed in 2013, has attracted large crowds at the Wimborne Road store for the retirement sale.

‘This is a bittersweet moment. We’ve had the privilege of furnishing thousands of homes across generations, and while we’re excited for the next chapter, we’re incredibly grateful to all our loyal customers,’ says David Scott.

‘To our wonderful team, past and present: your hard work, dedication, and good humour as members of the Sturtons & Tappers “family” have been the heart of this business. We’ve shared long days, big challenges and plenty of laughs along the way. Your contributions have been immeasurable, and we are incredibly proud of everything we’ve built and maintained together.

‘Sturtons & Tappers has stood the test of time because of the people – our amazing team, our loyal customers, and the wider community of Winton, Bournemouth and beyond. Your support has meant the world to us. Every visit, every conversation, and every purchase has been appreciated,’ they say.

The company was founded in 1906.
