Mattress and bed manufacturer Vispring has achieved the ISO 14001 environmental standard.
To achieve the standard, Vispring underwent a rigorous assessment at its Plymouth factory by Société Générale de Surveillance designed to benchmark its impact performance, ensuring that sustainability is continually monitored, tracked and improved.
As an internationally recognised certification, ISO 14001 provides evidence to internal and external stakeholders that Vispring is actively evolving its manufacturing processes and product lifecycle. By following this robust system of environmental management criteria, Vispring continues to create a successful framework that supports its global network of operations, retailers, and customers.
‘More widely, as the first UK bed manufacturer to attain the prestigious Woolmark quality assurance certification, Vispring is building upon its ethical credentials by nurturing long-standing relationships with local, traditional craftspeople, while consistently evaluating its practices. By fusing traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, sustainability is an integral part of Vispring’s ethos. Focusing on reducing the environmental impact as a business across all stages of the production process demonstrates Vispring’s agile evolution across its 122-year history. More widely, Vispring has undertaken a raft of measures to improve its performance, from implementing waste stream recycling and investment in renewable energy to installing electric charging points and informative staff engagement events,’ says Thomas Staddon, Vispring operations director.
‘Achieving ISO 14001 is a result of the hard work of the entire Vispring team and demonstrates a positive step in the right direction. We will continue to build upon these successes as part of an ongoing drive to operate as sustainably as possible.’
