Wayfair names new head of Europe

Etailer Wayfair has appointed a new head of Europe.

Jens Uwe Intat has succeeded Martin Reiter, who left last month after almost eight years in the job.

Intat has been a director of used electronics marketplace reBuy since January 2019, before which he spent five years as a vice president of Amazon Germany overseeing divisions including consumer electronics, PC, office, kitchen, home living, lawn and garden, and home improvement. Prior to that he spent a decade at Electronic Arts, including almost seven years as senior vice-president and general manager international publishing.

He has also worked for Lycos Europe, Bertelsmann and McKinsey.

‘We are delighted to welcome Jens Uwe at this very exciting and pivotal moment in Wayfair’s international trajectory,’ says Steve Oblak, Wayfair global chief commercial officer. ‘With his track-record scaling world leading ecommerce businesses, his exceptional go-to-market strategic insights and steadfast focus on customer experience, Jens Uwe is perfectly positioned to help Wayfair Europe solidify its position as the best global platform for home and the undeniable market leader for customers and suppliers.’

‘I look forward to shaping and driving the ambitious goals of Wayfair. What is more, the passion and the unique culture of the team is truly inspiring and I’m thrilled to be joining and advancing the next chapter of the journey in Europe together,’ says Intat.

The UK and Germany make up just over 10% of Wayfair’s US$14.8bn turnover.
