Westbridge faces another administration after funding search fails

Upholstery producer Westbridge and sister firm Belfield have filed notices of intention to appoint administrators after facing insolvency.

The move comes just over a year after the duo, along with Tetrad and Clinchplain Foam and Fibre – which make up Belfield Group- were bought by Blandford Capital in a pre-pack deal.

Administrators from Interpath are expected to be appointed in the coming days, just weeks after Westbridge had a large presence at JFS. The notices of intention provide creditor protection until administration is confirmed.

Tetrad Furniture and Clinchplain are not part of the notices of intention.

‘In order to provide the necessary protections for both Westbridge and Belfield, and to enable these businesses, rapidly, to explore alternative funding options, it has been necessary to file notices of intention to appoint administrators. Both businesses were on the cusp of full recovery but required further funding to remain as solvent trading entities. As this funding has not been forthcoming, the directors have been obliged to take these extremely difficult decisions,’ says Tom Prestwich, Belfield Group ceo.

‘We are grateful to all our staff across both businesses who continue to go above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service. We appreciate this will be an unsettling time for them and will continue to support them in the days and weeks ahead.’

‘We are delighted to be working with the Blandford team during this exciting next phase of growth. We will continue to provide an incredible service with passion and enthusiasm, delivered by a highly skilled team. Together we look forward to designing, building and selling beautiful products to our strong client base and achieve success into the future,’ Prestwich said when the group was sold by NorthEdge in February 2025.
