Retail flooring sales in the first eight months of the year were 10% ahead of 2024.
Sales for the first eight months of the year in England, Scotland and Wales totalled £2.003494bn: 10.08% ahead of 2024, according to ONS data.
Sales in August 2025 were £227.553m: 6.26% higher than in July 2025 but 1.56% lower than in 2024.
August saw the third lowest level of sales since August 2024: only July and May were lower in past year (including August 2024).
The figures compare with recent August sales of £178.13m (2021), £211.25m (2022) and £222.11m (2023).
The data is not seasonally adjusted and does not take inflation into account.
