Retail furniture and lighting sales in the first eight months of the year were 6% ahead of 2024.
Sales for the first eight months of the year in England, Scotland and Wales totalled £10.03943bn: 6.04% ahead of 2024, according to ONS data.
Sales in August 2025 were £1.131bn: up 2.6% on in July 2025 and 4.35% higher than in 2024.
This year was the fourth lowest performing month since August 2024, only ahead of August 2024 (£1.084bn), July 2025 (£1.102bn) and May 2025 (£1.128m) including August 2024.
The figures compare with recent August sales of £1.1483bn (2021), £1.2034bn (2022) and £1.2647bn (2023).
The data is not seasonally adjusted and does not take inflation into account.
