24 hours of table tennis sees Handy staff support FMC

Staff at component supplier Handy raised more than £2,200 for the Furniture Makers’ Company holding a 24-hour table tennis tournament.

The charity, of which Handy is a corporate member, provides financial and practical support to people working throughout the furnishing trade, and has done for over 100 years. Since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, the charity has committed to award up to £1m in welfare grants to those who had their livelihoods critically impacted by the crisis.

‘We are delighted to have taken part and raised vital funds for the Furniture Makers’ Company. The charity has been so supportive of companies in the furniture industry, which have faced many challenges over the past two years dealing with the impact of rising costs and disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The table tennis marathon gave us all a renewed sense of community and belonging as a team, as well as raising money to support others in our industry,’ says Nick Harland-Smith, Handy md.
