The great-great-granddaughter of the company’s founder has taken charge at upholstery, cabinet and beds manufacturer Wittmann.
Alice Wittmann has become md at the Austrian producer. Bo Thuesen, ceo, has left the
company at his own request.
Wittmann employs almost 100 people and produces about 15,000 pieces a year. About 70% is exported to more than 50 countries.
She joined the company in 2019, shortly after her parents Ulrike and Heinz stepped back from running the company. She became head of design in 2024.
‘We have come to the conclusion that Wittmann needs leadership that is deeply rooted in the company’s tradition and values in the current market phase. In a challenging market environment, the close integration of ownership and operational management is a decisive advantage for agility and clarity. We want to position and manage Wittmann as an independent Austrian company with a long-term perspective,’ she says.
Wittman says that under her leadership there will be a ‘return to its core
competencies: the highest quality craftsmanship and a timeless design language,’ as well a drive to boost contract sales and an improved digital presence.
‘Our goal is to consistently develop the Wittmann brand to ensure that it remains relevant for both existing and future generations. We are focusing on the qualities that have always made us strong: excellent products, reliable partnerships and the power of an established brand,’ she says.
