Retail inflation for household furniture was the same in October as in September: non-existent.

ONS data shows that for the consecutive month, there was no inflation or deflation.

Garden furniture continued to see deflation, as October became the third consecutive month to see increasing inflation (and the eleventh in the past 13 months), as it rose from 8.2% to 8.3%.

Lighting saw inflation almost double – from 1.7% to 3.7% – as deflation continued its long run.

Furnishings fabrics and curtains saw inflation plunge, falling from 2.9% to 0.1%.

Bed linen followed suit, dropping from 2.2% to 0.5%.

Table linen and bathroom linen inflation proved more stubborn, at 2.2%, after September’s 3.5%.
