For more than a century, SATRA has been supporting retailers, manufacturers and suppliers with independent testing and certification services. Today, its ISO 17025-accredited laboratories provide a comprehensive range of testing services for furniture and flooring, helping businesses demonstrate compliance, improve product quality and build confidence throughout the supply chain.
The award reflects SATRA’s long-standing reputation for delivering practical and reliable testing solutions. From domestic and contract furniture to educational, outdoor and specialist applications, SATRA works with organisations of all sizes to assess product performance against UK, European and international standards.
SATRA’s furniture testing services cover strength, durability, stability and safety requirements for a wide range of products, including seating, tables, beds, mattresses and storage furniture. Dedicated flammability testing facilities support manufacturers in meeting the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations, while extensive chemical testing capabilities help businesses to address evolving legislation and customer expectations.
Its flooring testing includes testing carpet, rugs and matting for a variety of domestic and contract applications including on-stair use. Specific testing for carpets at SATRA includes Vettermann Drum, Hexapod Tumbler and Lisson Tretrad. Under the Construction Products Regulation, manufacturers must test floorcoverings for ‘reaction to fire’. This testing includes the radiant panel test and a direct small flame impingement test. It tests a wide variety of resilient floors, both for suitability and level of use determinations, along with slip resistance. It also tests to a variety of UK, European and international standards, and as an Approved Body can assist with UKCA mark certification.
