Beaulieu International Group has initiated a major investment designed to boost capacity in carpet tiles and enter the PET yarn market.
The €1.7bn group’s BIG Yarns subsidiary will increase production of one-step three-ply polyamide yarn at its Hauts-de-France factory in France by more than a fifth.
The new production lines use BIG Yarns’ cutting-edge PA yarn technology which expands design, contrast and colour freedoms for carpet tile manufacturers, and increases flexibility in lot sizes. In addition, the new technology features a higher level of automation which improves ergonomics for BIG Yarns’ employees while optimising energy use. The new production lines will be deployed from mid-2022.
BIG Yarns will also begin PET yarn production by the third quarter of 2022, with products designed for the automotive industry.

BIG Yarns’ plants in France and Belgium have run on 100% green electricity since July, reducing its CO2 emissions for its electricity use by 35% in 2021, and an estimated 75% in 2022.
