Deflation returns for furniture

Retail price deflation returned to the furniture sector in November.

After October saw the first annual inflation (0.5%) for 10 months, November saw deflation of 0.5% for household furniture, according to ONS data.

Garden furniture continued its nine-month journey of deflation (and eight consecutive months of double-digit decreases) with deflation rising from 11.4% to 12.6%.

Lighting also saw deflation continue, rising from 2.3% to 3.9%.

Furnishing fabrics and curtains saw inflation rise from 2.7% to 3.3%. Bed linen saw deflation pick-up, from 0.8% to 2.2% as table and bathroom linen saw the rate ease from 0.3% to 0.1%
