Dunelm raises profit forecast

Dunelm has told shareholders that it expects profits to be higher then previously expected after a strong summer sale.

The 179 store chain saw sales increase by 6% to £381m in the quarter to 1 July and by the same amount to £1.639bn for the year.

Cooler weather helped drive sales of rugs and bedding in the quarter, while garden furniture did well as the weather improved.

It says it now expects full-year profits to be ‘slightly ahead’ of City forecasts of £188m.

It says it is ‘pleased’ with initial trading in the current financial year.
