Dunelm rewards shareholders with special dividend

Dunelm is to reward shareholders with a major special dividend as it has enjoyed better than forecast sales.

The chain is to pay shareholders 65p as a special dividend in addition to the full year dividend of 35p.

Last year it paid no dividends amid the pandemic and store closures.

The news came as sales growth showed no signs of stopping. ‘Sales growth in the first ten weeks of the new financial year has been encouraging, including a positive response from customers to our summer sale in July and continued outperformance versus the homewares market. This strong start to the year, showing further growth against a tough comparative period, has been better than anticipated,’ it says.

It is also forecasting that pre-tax profits will top analysts’ forecasts of £175m for 2021/2022.
