Retail flooring inflation jumped to its highest level for more than a year in November, fuelled by higher carpet prices.
Carpet and flooring inflation rose from 8.7% in October to 9.3% in November.
While in recent months the increased price of smooth flooring has pushed overall flooring prices higher, November proved an exception with smooth flooring seeing price increases drop from 17.3% to 14.6%.
Carpet and rug inflation rose from 7.5% to 8.6%: its second consecutive monthly rise – in July the rate had dropped to 6.4%.
The rate of increase for furniture, furnishings and carpets dropped from 12.6% to 12.3%, its lowest rate since January thanks to a drop in the rate for household furniture, despite an increase in furnishings price rises.
