Deflation returned to the flooring retail sector in September, as carpet and rug price increases dropped.
September saw deflation of 2.5%, compared with inflation of 0.1% in August, according to ONS. In September 2023 annual inflation was running at 9.4%.
Carpets and rugs prices were responsible for the return of deflation for the first time in at least a year, with deflation of 2.9%.
Other flooring saw higher prices for the first time since November 2023, as inflation returned at 0.2%.
