Shoppers spent a record amount on flooring in November.
The average weekly spend on flooring in England, Wales and Scotland was £66.17m during the month, according to Office for National Statistics data.
This was 9% higher than October and 14% higher than November 2021.
It is the highest weekly spend recorded in the past 443 months since comparable records began in January 1986. The previous weekly high was £64.75m in November 2007.
Sales were 263.75% higher than November 2020 and 73.9% higher than November 2019.
According to the volume of sales index, where 2019 is 100: 2022 to date is 119.1, 2021 was 85. The volume peaked in 1989 at 291.8.
The figures are not seasonally adjusted, do not take inflation into account and are subject to revision.
