Flooring sees deflation jump

Retail prices for flooring saw a significant drop in June, as deflation trebled.

Prices were down 0.9%, according to ONS data, after the previous monthly 0.3% drop.

A year ago prices were rising at 9.1%.

Changes to carpet and rug prices were ‘negligible’ while other flooring saw deflation leap from 1.6% to 4.1%. A year earlier the inflation rate for this sector was 10.3%.
