Flooring retail inflation continued its topsy-turvy behaviour in September.
Since March the annual inflation rate for carpets and flooring has developed a pattern of falling one month, only for it to rise the next, followed by another fall.
September was no different: rising from 7.6% to 9.4%, although this is still lower than July’s 9.9%. It is however higher than the average for 2022, which was 8.3%.
Price increases for carpets and rugs were 10.7% higher than a year ago, while smooth flooring also saw the rate climb, from 5.9% to 6.5%.
