Footfall maintains performance

Non-food retail footfall maintained its performance in the past week.

Footfall was 18.6% lower than in 2019 in the week to 10 April, the same as in the previous week, according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index.

Retail parks continued the trend of outperforming high streets and shopping centres, with footfall 12.1% down on 2019 (it had been down 9.8% the previous week). High streets saw footfall 22.8% lower compared with a previous fall of 24/7%. Shopping centres saw a 20.9% decline, an improvement on the previous 23.8% drop. 

For the second consecutive week London and the South East of England was the best performing region, with footfall down 19.1%.
