Footfall shows improvement

Non-food retail footfall showed improvement in the past week.

Footfall was down 16.7% compared with 2019, but an improvement on the previous week’s fall of 18.9%.

High streets, retail parks and shopping centres all improved their performance. High streets saw footfall 18.9% lower, (-21.7% the previous week), retail parks were down 11.5% on 2019 (-12.5%) while shopping centres were 18.2% lower (-20.3%), according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index.

Northern England was the best performer (-12%) along with South-west England and Wales (-14.1%) with Scotland and Northern Ireland the worst, with footfall 20.4% lower.
