The rate of retail furniture inflation slowed by almost a quarter in June.
The annual rate for household furniture fell from 8.2% to 6.2%: the lowest rate for at least a year and a fraction of the 16.6% experienced in June 2022.
It is the tenth consecutive month the rate has fallen.
The rate for garden furniture dropped from 4.6% to 3.4%.
The rate for lighting increased from 0.1% to 0.4%.
The Office for National Statistics said the main downward contributions came from sofas, kitchen units, dining tables and chairs and beds.
