Furniture sales edge down as flooring enjoys increase

The value of furniture retail sales dropped in February but flooring sales rose.

The value of the average weekly spend fell 1.68% to £242,807,000, according to Office for National Statistics figures.

This was 11.8% lower than February 2020.

The value of average weekly flooring sales rose 6.7% to £22,538,000.

This was 18.5% lower than February 2020.

Furniture and flooring store were closed throughout February, apart from click and collect and delivery.

The figures are first estimates and are likely to be revised over the coming months.
