Furniture sales soar: but H1 still down

Furniture and lighting sales significantly rebounded in June, but half-year sales were still down.

The value of furniture and lighting retail sales jumped by 21.759% in June, compared with May 2025, reaching £1.405bn, according to ONS data.

Compared with a year earlier, sales in England, Wales and Scotland were 4.3% higher.

However, total sales for the first six months of the year were 6% lower than in 2024 at £7.87bn.

The figures are not seasonally-adjusted, do not take inflation into account and are subject to revision.
