Future focus: Four days of design innovation, commercial insight and retail inspiration

INDX Furniture returns to Cranmore Park from 17-20 January, for four days dedicated to design innovation, commercial insight and retail inspiration. Known for its unique approach to curation, INDX Furniture remains a
trend-responsive trade show shaped directly by the AIS buying team.

With the Saturday exclusively for AIS members, the show will open its doors to members and non-members for the remaining three days, offering buyers a dynamic, edited opportunity to discover the latest must-have designs across upholstery, living and dining, home accessories, garden and outdoor.

The 2026 show will shine a spotlight on newness and innovation, gathering a powerful line-up of market-leading brands, fresh launches and industry intel under one roof.

‘We are trading within a very uncertain retail landscape, against a backdrop of rising costs, inflation, supply chain headwinds and weak consumer

confidence. While this is a formidable list of challenges, it throws up a wealth of opportunities for retailers, and our role is to help them identify and maximise these as AIS continues to reinforce its role as a trusted commercial partner for independent retailers,’ says Emma Rackley, AIS director of furniture and home.

‘One key opportunity is to respond to the general consumer trend for valuing local businesses over multiples. Our retailers know their customers very well: they are often the beating heart of their hometowns and are best placed to provide the personalised approach and service that harnesses community engagement.

‘This must be supported by maximising digital presence: utilising local SEO, targeted mobile shopping, and social media platforms for storytelling that creates an emotion-generated relationship between customer and retailer. Retailers need to be bold enough to embrace and display products that adapt to multi-generational living and multi-use spaces.

The reality is that larger multiples cannot easily create an emotional connection, but our independent retailers can and must.’

‘Our role is simple: to provide the most efficient and effective meeting point for innovation and commercial business. We’ve got a very special edition of the show lined up, featuring plenty of product launches, debuts and exclusives,’ says Rachel Cooper, AIS upholstery selector.

‘The macro trend we’ll be focusing on will spotlight The Knowmads: a celebration of grand modernism with a bold, robust and daring approach to design. This trend embraces dialled- down opulence, expressed through rich colours, textures and patterns, while promoting adaptability for evolving living spaces. Designs are playful yet practical, offering flexibility for the end user.

‘2025 was an incredible year of growth and partnership between Abode and AIS members. At the show it’ll be unveiling product launches including

the Lille (IL) bedroom range. ‘OTI made a big impression when it showcased at the show in August and it’ll be back in January too. With more than 20 years of industry experience and an in-house design and development team, OTI fills the gap for affordable, trend-led furniture that makes a quiet statement wherever it’s placed.

‘HTL is an unmissable stop for all visiting retailers, offering fresh designs, unbeatable comfort and smart living. Look out for smart fabrics launching at the show. We’re also delighted to host the complete launch of the home studio offer from G Plan Home: an inspiring new way to bring harmony, comfort and style into every corner of living spaces. Plus, Vale Bridgecraft will be debuting the Bridgecraft Gallery at INDX with an updated collection of classic sofas with heritage-inspired character.’
