High street move sees bed retailer double space

Bed retailer The Good Sleep Company has doubled the size of its store, allowing it improve displays and widen its non-furniture offer.

The Banff, Aberdeenshire company has moved from 24 High Street to 34 High Street, occupying the site of a former M&Co and House of Fraser store.

The move comes after a 7% increase in sales to £544,000 in the year to the end of September 2024.

The extra space has allowed it to launch The Feet-Up Furniture Co, expanding beyond its bedroom furniture offer.

‘The new shop has more floor space and it is over two floors. It’s allowed us to get more furniture in and to display things better. It’s enabled us to have things like a dedicated adjustable bed department and a better bedding offering as well,’ says Scott Birnie, The Good Sleep Company director.

‘We also have dining tables, chairs and sofas, and it’ll also give us more flexibility to try different things in the future as well. It has given us a better location in Banff, as it catches everyone’s eye. I’ve always said there is plenty of appetite for people to shop local. It’s also important to provide them with what they want and we’ve been well supported over the past nine years.

‘As an independent business we have flexibility over the larger chain stores, as we can offer customers items from a supplier’s full range.’
