More than 170,000 Ikea employees are to collect a bonus after online sales leapt.
The group saw online sales leap from 18% to 30% of its £31.6bn turnover during pandemic lockdowns: a rise of almost £4bn.
The bonus will be based on each country’s proportion of total wages and will be paid in January.
The group has been keen to increase online sales as part of its environmental efforts but insists bricks and mortar stores will continue to be a vital part of the chain’s future. Last month it agreed to pay £378m for Topshop’s former flagship store on Oxford Street, London.
