John Lewis turns the dial down

John Lewis is to turn down the temperature in its department stores to save money.

The chain is to reduce heating by 2degC across stores, offices and distribution centres.

Staff have been told that the energy bill for John Lewis and sister chain Waitrose could be £18m higher than forecast.

John Lewis is also conducting lighting surveys to see if it can turn down lighting: Waitrose is cutting light levels by half in the first two hours of trading from Monday to Friday.
