Pedal power for Hudson

James Hudson, Gallery Direct commercial director is set to meet his fundraising target after completing a 400km charity bike ride for by Help for Heroes.

Hudson completed the four days Big Battlefield Bike Ride, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and Armed Forces Day, on 29 June.

On the ride Hudson met some inspirational veterans, some cycling with missing limbs, and heard harrowing stories from injured service personnel, which has cemented his respect for the veterans even more.

Hudson served for seven years as part of the 5th Battalion Royal Green Jackets Reserves, where he had a small insight into the life of the regular army and realised the struggles some soldiers have after leaving service. He has spent 27 years as a member of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, which supports the military and particularly 2 Rifles Battalion.

Hudson has so far raised more than £2,500 for the charity, with all funds raised going to Help for Heroes. ‘I would love to raise as much as possible for the heroes who have given so much for our country so any donations will be greatly appreciated,’ he says.
