Sofa Club has further strengthened its leadership team, hiring former Sainsbury’s executive Kate Preusse to the new role of group operations director.
Preusse spent almost a decade at Argos and Sainsbury’s with roles including imports supply chain manager in charge for £1bn of imports across general merchandise at Argos and head of supply chain planning general merchandise and clothing at Sainsbury’s where she was responsible for volume planning and stock flow for general merchandise for Sainsbury’s, Argos and TU clothing.
Preusse built a reputation for delivering operational improvements that balance efficiency, scalability and customer experience, while producing major cost savings.
She also spent a year at high-growth jewellery
brand Sanderson Trading Group, and another as a consultant working with founder-led and high-growth consumer brands. During her four years at Waterstones she cut the group’s supplier returns from 15% to 6%.
‘What drew me to Sofa Club was the ambition of the brand and the opportunity to help shape the operational foundations for its next phase of growth. For me, great operations aren’t just about process and efficiency: they’re about creating clarity for teams, reducing friction for customers, and building a culture where people can do their best work,’ she says.
‘Kate brings an exceptional combination of
operational expertise, strategic leadership and customer focus. As we continue to scale the business, her experience across supply chain, logistics and operational transformation will be invaluable in helping us deliver the best possible experience for our customers while building a platform for sustainable long-term growth. We’re delighted to welcome her to the team,’ says Tom O’Neill, Sofa Club co-founder.
