Discount furniture retailer Joseph James is to open its third store at the end of the month.
As with its branches in Stretford, Manchester and Stockport – the town’s former 90,000sqft Debenhams store – size is important to the company.
The third store will occupy the former Wilko store in St Helens and offer 30,000sqft of space when it opens on 26 April.
The retailer specialises in buying excess or discontinued stock from other retailers and selling it at a discount to the original price. Founders Joseph Shenton and James Pullen founded the business in 2019 after they left school, aged 18.
‘Joseph James Furniture Outlet’s model of selling branded clearance furniture (sofas, beds, mattresses and dining furniture) requires a large space for any showroom. The 30,000sqft of retail space on offer at this former Wilko store is ideal to home the vast array of furniture that customers have become accustomed to navigating at the other two locations,’ says a statement.
‘This new St Helens site, at any one-time, will have for sale approximately 300 sofas, 50 chairs, 50 beds, 65 mattresses, 50 dining tables and 50 sets of dining chairs. All of these items will be available for immediate free delivery and be sold for approximately 30%-70% off their retail price.
‘Joseph James continues to breathe life into large retail stores on the British high street.’
