Fabrics lead textile price climb

A major leap in the price of furnishing fabrics and curtains has seen inflation jump for household textiles.

After seeing prices drop for the first time in over a year in September, inflation leapt to 3.3% in October, according to ONS data.

This increase meant the overall household textile inflation rate rose from 4% to 5.3%.

The rate for bed linen dropped from 6% to 5.8% while the rate for table and bathroom linen fell from 10.8% to 8.7%.

In October 2021 the rates were 3.2%, 2.1%, 5.2% and -0.1% respectively.
