Flooring sees retail prices drop again

Retail prices for flooring dropped again in July, but the rate declined.

The sector saw deflation for the third consecutive month, but it fell from 0.9% to 0.6%, according to ONS data.

In January the inflation rate was 8.8%.

Smooth flooring continued to see significant deflation, its eighth consecutive month, although the rate fell from 4.1% to 3.6%.

In January the inflation rate was 7.3%.

Carpets and rugs saw price increases reach 0.4%, compared with May’s 0.2% (there was no data for June), but still well short of the 3.3% increase seen in April and 10.6% in January.
