Furniture inflation eases marginally

Retail inflation for furniture eased marginally in July, but remains more than twice the rate it was a year ago.

The rate for household furniture dropped from 16.6% to 15.1% in July, according to ONS data. 

This compares with 6.9% in July 2021.

The rate for garden furniture dropped from 25.5% to 21.1% (-14.8% in July 2021); lighting fell from 11.3% to 7.9% (5.2%)  and furniture and furnishings dropped from 16.3% to 14.8% (6.7%).
