Milan Design Week: Arper goes green (and seven other shades) with Catifa (RE) 46

Arper again showed its commitment to sustainability with a new version of its 2004 classic Catifa.

Catifa (RE) 46 is the result: with a contemporary reinterpretation of materials. The new shell is made using 100% recycled plastic, a combination of post-consumer and post-industrial material and the new cushion is made from Breathair. This material – an elastomeric polyester – is already known for its elastic, breathable, water-resistant, and fully recyclable characteristics but until now it has never been shaped.

Eight new shades have been selected for the colour palette of the Catifa (RE) 46 shell: ivory, anthracite, green, midnight blue, rust, espresso, white and black, inspired by sustainable architecture, where exposed materials with authentic, natural textures take centre stage. The outer part of the shell features a distinctive texture, giving Catifa (RE) 46 an additional element of novelty.

The shell pairs with three different bases, allowing it to meet multiple needs and environments: four wooden legs, four steel legs (suitable for outdoor use) and a sled base. Optional armrests can be added to the steel legs or sled base versions and the chair is also available as a stool in two different heights, both configurable with a sled base.
